Pottermore Walkthrough – The Vanishing Glass

Welcome to the walkthrough for Chapter 2 of Book 1 in Pottermore, The Philosopher’s Stone. The title of this chapter is The Vanishing Glass and it primarily deals with a trip to the Zoo. There are just two moments to complete in this chapter.

Moment One – The Cupboard Under the Stairs

1. This is where Harry famously lived for his first year in the Dursley’s home.
2. To get started, zoom in once on the scene.
3. Click on the alarm clock to collect it.
4. Click on the small photo frame sitting on the table to collect the portrait of Vernon and Petunia Dursley. Reading this short story from author J.K. Rowling will detail a few interesting facts about the Dursley family.

Moment Two – The Trip to the Zoo

1. Honestly, this isn’t much of a trip to the Zoo. More like a quick visit to the reptile house, really.
2. Zoom in once and you can read the sign about boa constrictors after you click on it.
3. Hover your cursor over the boa and it will raise its head and stare in your direction. Hmmm, it looks hungry. Next, the glass will shimmer and vanish. Uh-oh, this doesn’t look good.
