Pottermore

Pottermore is a new online game based on the world of Harry Potter. It was announced on July 31, 2011 by J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter books (fun fact: July 31 is Harry Potter’s birthday. Of course, if you’re reading this, you probably already knew that!) It was originally supposed to come out in October 2011 but has been delayed several times as they have been working out issues from the beta test. Allegedly, over one million people have tried out the beta, so that’s a lot of testing. We’ve explored a little bit as well and have put together some Pottermore cheats and walkthroughs here for everyone who is interested in learning more.

What does any of this have to do with Poptropica? Well, not much really but most of us are also Harry Potter fans!

The big news is that Pottermore is finally expected to be released to the public in “early” April 2012. Once that happens, Harry Potter fans everywhere will rejoice and can then explore the world of Harry Potter on their own.

Pottermore is organized much like the original Harry Potter series. It is divided into books, chapters and moments. The first book, The Philosopher’s Stone will be available at launch and is the only book open for beta-testing. The remaining books will be released over time. Each book is divided into chapters, which follow the original storyline of Harry Potter very closely. For example, in the first book, you start at Privet Drive, progress to learning you’re a wizard and shopping at Diagon Alley, and then of course attend Hogwart’s itself. In the game, each chapter is also divided into scenes called moments. In each moment, you explore the world, find items and interact.
