Pottermore Walkthrough – Diagon Alley

Diagon Alley is the hub of all the Wizard activity in Pottermore and it’s where you’ll visit in Chapter 5 of Book 1 to get all the supplies you need to attend Hogwarts. There are four moments in total for this chapter and at the end of the Chapter, you’ll earn your very own wand!

Moment One – Arriving at Diagon Alley

1. Zoom in once.
2. Pick up the piece of paper that is on the ground in the middle of the street. This is the shopping list of all the items you need to attend Hogwarts.

Moment Two – Harry and Hagrid Visit Gringott’s

1. Opening your vault is pretty easy. Just click on the key and drag it over to the lock to open up your vault.
2. You’ll get 500 galleons, which you’ll need for your shopping spree back in Diagon Alley.

Moment Three – Harry Goes Shopping

1. Return to Diagon Alley to begin your shopping.
2. The first stop is Potage’s Cauldron Shop, where you should purchase the pewter cauldron.
3. The next stop is Wiseacre’s Wizarding Equipment. In here, buy the brass scales, brass telescope and glass phials.
4. The third stop is Flourish and Blotts. Here, you should purchase all eight books from the menu. You’ll need each one.
5. The fourth stop is Eeylops Owl Emporium and Magical Menagerie. This is where you select your pet, which can be an owl, a cat and a toad.
6. Your pet becomes your avatar. Seriously? Who would pick a toad?

Moment Four – Ollivander’s

1. And now the moment we’ve been waiting for! You get your wand here.
2. Head to Diagon Alley, South Side and walk into Ollivander’s shop.
3. Complete the series of questions (answer truthfully!) and then you’ll get your want for seven galleons.
