Halloween is coming soon and there are a lot of big things coming to Poptropica. You probably already know that all month you can play the old Haunted House mini-quest for free. And members are eagerly awaiting the release of Game Show Island, which will launch on Thursday of this week. There’s also the new Legends mini-game that was originally “coming in October.”
But is Poptropica planning on surprising us with another Halloween treat? It’s just a rumor, but if you’ve been paying attention to the sneak peeks section in Daily Pop lately, then you’ve been seeing some pretty spooky stuff. The creators have been posting concept art of a new island that has a ghost theme. The pictures that have appeared so far include a dark staircase in a basement, a house on a hill, a tombstone cutter’s workshop (creepy!), some carts that sell ghost trinkets and souveniers and a very scary prison building. All of the pictures are concept sketches and not final art. That usually means that the island is still months away from completion, but the whole ghost theme and gravestone would be perfect for Halloween.
There’s not many clues from the sketches other than the name of one of the areas in the island is called Hemlock Harbor. That appears to be a new made-up name in Poptropica. If you search on Hemlock Harbor on Google, there aren’t any existing books or movies that use that name. So this looks like a Poptropica original.
Do you think they might be planning on a secret Halloween release? Maybe there’s a special surprise in store for us this week. Or do you think this is just another upcoming island for later this year or early next? Post your thoughts in the comments below or join us for the discussion in the Poptropica Secrets forum. In the meantime, browse through this gallery of the sneak peek images.
