Poptropica Cheats and Secrets http://poptropicasecrets.com Cheats, Walkthroughs and Secrets for Poptropica Thu, 17 Apr 2014 21:45:51 +0000 en-US hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.9 Mission: Atlantis Episode 1 is Out http://poptropicasecrets.com/news/mission-atlantis-episode-1-is-out/ http://poptropicasecrets.com/news/mission-atlantis-episode-1-is-out/#comments Thu, 17 Apr 2014 19:52:54 +0000 http://poptropicasecrets.com/?p=7732 Members can now play Mission: Atlantis Episode 1. I just completed it and will be posting the complete walkthrough onto the Mission Atlantis cheats page shortly. Here’s my first impressions, though. It’s a fun (but really short) episode. I think we’re going to have to get used to this shorter episodic format. There’s really two main parts to episode 1 (more details in the walkthrough). The first is figuring how to get the key to the sub from the ship crew, and the second is photographing several rare fish underwater.

The episode ends after you chase a rare jellyfish creature into the deep water and you are attacked by a group of jellyfish. Your sub suffers from an electrical overload and you sink to the bottom of the sea floor, where you discover a whole new area. Unfortunately, the episode is over at this point and we’ll have to wait to learn more, just as we will with Survival Island.

I finished the episode 18th overall, which isn’t too bad since I got a late start and had a little trouble finding the last fish (he’s in a separate area–but more on that in the walkthrough.)

Site Outage http://poptropicasecrets.com/news/site-outage/ http://poptropicasecrets.com/news/site-outage/#comments Thu, 17 Apr 2014 16:40:27 +0000 http://poptropicasecrets.com/?p=7716 Wow, we’re back online after a 23-hour site outage. PoptropicaSecrets.com is currently hosted by HostGator. I say currently, because after yesterday’s experience, we’ll be switching hosting companies soon. Fortunately, things came back online 20 minutes ago. Thanks, everyone, for your patience!

Looks like we’re up and running just in time! The newest island, Mission: Atlantis, is set to be released for members later today. And Survival Island will be available for everyone to play as well. It’s a big day in Poptropica. I’m glad my site is back up and running!

While we’re waiting for Mission: Atlantis to release, here’s some interesting things that have been happening. Members can find three new outfits in the store. The first is the Diving Suit, which is a pre-release item for Mission: Atlantis. The next two are the Icarus and the Cyclops outfits, which are costumes for the upcoming re-release of Mythology Island. I’m pretty excited about that. Mythology Island is probably my favorite island in Poptropica and it’s great to see it coming out in the new island format (and on the iPad!). Here’s what the three new outfits look like.

Diving Suit Costume Icarus Costume Cyclops Costume

And in a sign The Diving Suit outfit has a special power. Press the spacebar to turn the headlamp on and it will shine a beam of light out in front of you.

It looks dark in here. And what’s that snoring sound?

Finally, in a sign that the release of Mission: Atlantis is imminent, here’s the “unfinished” island medallion image. You’ll find it in your Poptropica Medallions collection in the “Friends” area.

Poptropica Cheats for Arabian Nights Island http://poptropicasecrets.com/walkthrough/poptropica-cheats-for-arabian-nights-island/ http://poptropicasecrets.com/walkthrough/poptropica-cheats-for-arabian-nights-island/#comments Wed, 16 Apr 2014 05:00:12 +0000 http://poptropicasecrets.com/?p=7704 Wait, what? Is there such a thing? Well, if you read the Poptropica Creator’s blog carefully, you’ll see that we should be expecting an Arabian Nights Island sometime in the future. It was the theme chosen by the winner of Poptropcia’s Create Your Dream Island contest. The contest was won by Sarah S. from South Carolina, otherwise known to Poptropicans as Magic Eagle.

Here’s what Poptropica said in the blog:

Poptropica Creators: What 3 things would you want with you on a deserted island?

Sarah: Three things I would want with me on a deserted island would be a flare gun, Buster my dog, and a full year’s supply of ice cream.

Well, Sarah, we can’t give you a full year’s supply of ice cream, but we can make your Island dreams come true. We can’t wait to make Arabian Nights Island a reality on Poptropica!

And there you have it. There’s no mention of when, but that sounds like a promise to create a new island along the theme of the Arabian Nights. If and when that island does arrive, we’ll have the full walkthrough here on Poptropica Secrets. And Magic Eagle, if you’re out there, we’d love to have you guest post about the island!

If you’re not familiar with the story of the Arabian Nights, it’s a very popular collection of tales that date back to ancient times and are primarily West and South Asian folktales, compiled in Arabic sometime during the Islamic Golden Age, which lasted from the 8th through the 13th Century. The tales were originally known as One Thousand and One Nights, but were translated into English in the 18th Century with the title, Arabian Nights. The stories themselves are woven together by Scheherazade, the bride of the King. She is to be executed but manages to keep the King entertained by her stories, and so tells him stories for 1,001 nights. She is eventually pardoned by the King and her life is saved. I guess it’s a good thing to be long-winded!

First Lunar Eclipse of the Year http://poptropicasecrets.com/news/first-lunar-eclipse-of-the-year/ http://poptropicasecrets.com/news/first-lunar-eclipse-of-the-year/#comments Mon, 14 Apr 2014 11:00:57 +0000 http://poptropicasecrets.com/?p=7676 Ready for something really cool? The first lunar eclipse of the year arrives tonight around midnight Pacific Time (3 am Tuesday ET). A total lunar eclipse is when the Earth’s shadow covers the Moon in its entirety. Tonight’s eclipse will likely be one of the rare “blood moon” eclipses, where the moon glows an eerie red-orange shade during the eclipse, which is expected to last about an hour and a half. If the sky in your area is clear, you’ll be able to see it with the naked eye, but for even better viewing, you’ll want to watch through a pair of binoculars. A lunar eclipse, unlike a solar eclipse, is perfectly safe to watch.

Tonight’s lunar eclipse will be the first in a series of four lunar eclipses that will take place between now and September of next year. It’s what’s called a eclipse tetrad and it’s more common than you might think. According to NASA, there have already been nine tetrads in this century. But there will be a lengthy delay after this one is over and the next one begins. It won’t happen again until the year 2032.

Blood Moon

The rare and beautiful Blood Moon.

So what makes a blood moon so special? Well, the effect that creates the red-orange color on the moon has an incredibly mind-blowing explanation. The color is generated by the light from sunsets and sunrises reflecting off the surface of the Earth. As sunlight curves around outer edges of our planet, the light beams into the shadow on the Moon, transforming the Moon into an reddish-orange hue. The effect is similar to that of the sun turning the clouds red or pink during a sunrise or sunset. Here’s how NASA explains it:

As you scan your eye around Earth’s circumference, you’re seeing every sunrise and every sunset in the world, all of them, all at once. This incredible light beams into the heart of Earth’s shadow, filling it with a coppery glow and transforming the Moon into a great red orb.

Whoa!

Blood Moon over Survival Island

Will we see a Blood Moon in Poptropica? Not likely, but it would sure be cool!

Happy eclipse watching, everyone!

Poptropica Tablets http://poptropicasecrets.com/news/poptropica-tablets/ http://poptropicasecrets.com/news/poptropica-tablets/#comments Fri, 11 Apr 2014 17:40:58 +0000 http://poptropicasecrets.com/?p=7672 Want to get one of those cool handheld tablets that you’re seeing people carrying around in the common rooms? The good news is it’s easy to find one. Just go to one of those advertisement billboards you see in-between zones on the islands. Look for the one that shows a video for the new Poptropica iPad app. Click on it to watch the video (you have to watch the whole thing) and once it’s done, you’ll get the Poptropica App Tablet item in your backpack.

Fierce Moon with the Poptropica App Tablet

Whee! I’ve got a tablet!

Unfortunately, the tablet doesn’t actually do anything. There’s no special space bar move for this item. But you do look cool when carrying it around. This is all more publicity for Poptropica’s iPad version of the game. They’re pushing hard to get everyone to move over to playing on the iPad, which makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately, there still aren’t very many islands to play in the iPad version, but Poptropica has promised to start simultaneously releasing the new islands on both the Web and iPad, beginning with next week’s release of Mission Atlantis.

Here I am with my new Poptropica App Tablet. What do you think?

Poptropica Cheats for Mission Atlantis http://poptropicasecrets.com/walkthrough/poptropica-cheats-for-mission-atlantis/ http://poptropicasecrets.com/walkthrough/poptropica-cheats-for-mission-atlantis/#comments Sun, 06 Apr 2014 14:33:26 +0000 http://poptropicasecrets.com/?p=7668 Poptropica has released another new island called Mission Atlantis. It is an episodic island, just like Survival Island, and the first episode is called Into the Deep. In this episode, you’ll go deep underwater to the bottom of the ocean on a mission to photograph rare fish. But at the end of the episode, something strange happens that uncovers an even deeper mystery. Click on the video above for the full video walkthrough, or read on for the written walkthrough!

Mission: Atlantis Walkthrough

When you arrive on the island, talk to the guy in black wearing a headset. He is Cam Jameson, a famous filmmaker, and he needs your help getting footage of underwater sea life for his newest film. The problem is that he can’t find the key to his submarine (the crew is keeping it from him). Your first task is to get the key so that you can unlock the sub and get some footage of those fish!

Cam Jameson in Mission Atlantis

Start the island by talking with Cam.

Jump up and to the right, where you’ll see a guy with a red beard and a white helmet. If you look closely, he’s holding something in his hand. It’s the key! But if you talk to him, he won’t give it up. Jump up onto the platform above him, where you’ll see a bucket. Click on it and it will tip over, splashing water onto the guy with the red beard. You’ll also pick up the bucket and put it into your backpack.

Now it’s time to jump overboard (really!) Run to the right and jump into the water. Swim over to the life raft with the Octopus in it. Click on the Octopus and he’ll spit out some black ink into your bucket. Next, go back up to the same platform where you found the bucket and then Use the bucket in your backpack. You’ll knock the bucket over again, this time spilling ink onto the guy’s head. He’ll cover his eyes and drop the key to the ground. Jump down and pick it up.

Now run back to Cam and he’ll tell you to take the sub. Run to the left and click on the lock on the crate to open it, which reveals the sub. Click on the sub to get inside and begin your underwater adventure to find footage of the fish!

Seadragon

Head down into the ocean and you’ll soon come across a Seadragon. Cam will appear on your communicator and tell you what to do. Basically, you just need to click on the fish and then make sure you’re in front of it for a few seconds to capture the footage. This is the easiest fish to photograph–the others involve solving simple puzzles. After you get the footage of the Seadragon, head deeper down into the water to find the remaining fish.

Barreleye

Barreleye in Mission AtlantisOnce you arrive in the deeper area, go to the left and down a bit. You’ll see the Barreleye hiding out over on the left side of the zone. He’s resting by a vent and behind a rock wall. You need to flush him out to get your footage. First, click on the orange vent on the outside wall next to him. This will force him to swim down, where he’ll rest next to a green vent. Now click on the green one on the outside and he’ll swim to the right. Repeat this once more with the blue vent and he’ll swim up into the open, where you can click on him to get the footage you need.

Stonefish

The Stonefish is a shy guy who hides on the sea floor. Go up and to the right from where you got the footage of the Barreleye and then down to the very bottom where you’ll see the Stonefish. He won’t move while he can see you, so bring your sub to the left and hide behind the yellow coral there. Once you’re in place, the Stonefish will swim out from his hiding place and you can click on him to get your footage.

Purple Cuttlefish

Mission Atlantis Purple Cuttlefish

Your goal is to get the purple cuttlefish to swim into the red coral here so that you can get your footage.

Now head up and to the right and you’ll see several Cuttlefish swimming in the red and purple coral above. Your job is to get footage of the rare purple Cuttlefish. But you can’t get the footage when he’s hiding in the purple coral, as he’ll be camouflaged. Whenever you run into one of the Cuttlefish, they’ll swim away to the nearest empty coral. Use this to your advantage by navigating the fish so that the only open spot is red coral. Then push one of the purple Cuttlefish so that he has to go into the red coral, where you can click on him to get the footage you need. The red coral you are aiming for is near the top-right of the area where all the Cuttlefish are hanging out.

Angler Fish

OK, now there’s just one more fish to photograph, and he’s in a different area. Bring your sub back to where you first spotted the Barreleye in the top-left. Follow the arrow to the left from there to enter the next zone. Here’s a funny part: to move to the next zone, you’ll temporarily exit your sub and run past the advertisement. When you arrive at the end, you’ll be in the new area back in your sub. I guess Poptropica couldn’t figure out how to keep you in your sub in the advertisement zones.

When you arrive, you’ll be in a maze. The trick with the Angler Fish is to keep him feeding long enough to get the footage. The way to do this is to bring him some smaller fish to eat. As you navigate through the maze, you’ll find little red fish who will follow your sub once you move on top of them. Keep them away from the purple spiky plants along the walls, or they’ll get scared and swim away. There are six little red fish in total, but you only need to gather three or four of them. Once you have them, head over to where the Angler Fish is hiding, in the center of the maze. See this handy maze map for where to find both the Angler Fish and all six little red fish:

Mission Atlantis Angler Maze Map

Here’s where to find the Angler Fish and the little red fish in the maze.

The Hydromedusa

Shocking Hydromedusae

Kind of a shock to the system…

OK, you have your fish footage. Head back up to the right and run back to the previous area. Once you arrive, you’ll see a jellyfish-like thing in front of you. Cam Jameson comes back on the communicator to tell you that this is a Hydromedusa and he wants you to follow it. The Hydromedusa swims off to the right to a new area. Follow it. You’ll find yourself in deep, dark water near a ledge. Move out to the right and you’ll spot the Hydromedusa. Click on it to get the footage…

…Suddenly, your surrounded by several Hydromedusae. This doesn’t look good! They all start to send out electrical shocks, which causes your submarine to overload and lose power. You sink slowly into the depths…

Now go to the right, and you’ll find yourself on a ledge. The camera pans out to reveal an underwater scene with some kind of futuristic-looking shipwreck in the background. You can also spot the silhouettes of whales swimming nearby. At this point, episode one of Mission: Atlantis ends, and you’ll receive your island medallion. Exploring Atlantis itself will need to be saved for future episodes. Congratulations!

Owl and Squirrel

Inhabitants of Survival Island in Poptropica.

Poptropica Survival Island is the first episodic island in Poptropica, meaning that it will be released in parts, starting with episode 1. You won’t be able to complete the whole thing in one sitting–you’ll need to keep coming back as more episodes are released. On the plus side, we won’t have to wait as long for a new island to arrive. The Creators explain this in their blog post on Survival Island. Episode 1 of Survival is called Crash Landing and members are able to play now.

Poptropica Survival Island Written Walkthrough (Episode 1)

You’ll begin the first episode of Survival Island with a short cinematic featuring your balloon crashing into the wilderness. Your goal for this episode is to collect all the necessary materials to start a fire and stay warm. The episode starts with you hanging helplessly from a tree. Fear not: just click on the screen below your avatar and you’ll drop harmlessly to the ground.

Walk over to the left and you’ll find a Survival Handbook on the ground. Pick it up to place it in your backpack — you’ll need it!

With Woodpecker in Survival Island

Now go to the right and you’ll see a gnarled tree with exposed roots above an ice pond. Jump up on the branches to get to the top, where you’ll find a missing page for the survival handbook.

Keep moving to the right until you find a rock pile. Up above this rock pile and to the left you’ll find a dead branch. Jump onto the dead branch to cause it to fall and break apart into a pile of logs, which you’ll need for your fire.

Once again, keep running to the right. You’ll encounter a squirrel running up a tree. You’ll need to follow him up to his squirrel hole, but the way to get there is a bit complicated, since you can’t climb a tree like a squirrel. Instead, you’re going to run all the way to the left, to the edge of this area. You’ll find a woodpecker here, and he’ll fly off to the right. Jump through the branches and follow the woodpecker to his next spot. He’ll fly off again. Keep following him until he reaches the tree with the squirrel inside the hole. The squirrel will cover his ears, totally annoyed by the noise, and leave. This will allow you to collect the squirrel’s nest, which you can use as tinder for your fire.

Drop down to the ground and go to the right, entering the next map section.

Keep moving to the right and you’ll come to a large tree with a hole in it. Pick up the pile of wet kindling under the tree.

There’s another handbook page in the tree right above you. Pick it up to place it inside your survival handbook.

Run to the right again and enter the next map section.

You’ll be running on top of a fallen tree. There’s a hole here that you’ll drop into so that you’re inside the dead and hollow tree trunk. There’s a small family of hibernating rodents here. Run a few steps to the left, and pick up the mittens that have been placed inside the tree. How did they get there?

Jump back up outside of the hollow log and proceed to your right. There’s a tree here with another page from the handbook in the branches. Pick up the page to add it to your collection.

Walk a few more steps here and you’ll find a huge boulder. You’re going to need to move this rock, but you can’t push it with just your hands. You need a little leverage–and now we’re off to find some!

Run all the way to the left, back to the starting area, and then go left once more to enter another area of the map. A few steps away, you’ll find the fourth page of the survival handbook. You will also see a bag hanging from the branches in the tree above you. To get this bag, you need to go to the left and jump up into the branches. Once you reach the bag, click on it, and an item will fall out of it and land on the ground. Jump down and use your mittens to clear the snow. You’ve found the striker, a tool you can use to spark your fire.

Keep moving to the left and you’ll soon come to a tree stump with an axe sticking out of it. Put on your mittens (you need to have them on) and click on the axe handle. It will come out of the stump and you will place it in your backpack. You’ll use the axe handle later to pry the large boulder loose.

While you’re here, pick up the fifth and final page of the survival handbook.

Run all the way to the right until you get back to the large boulder. Equip the axe handle from your backpack and then click on the boulder twice. The first time, it will roll a little. Click on it a second time to push it even further. It will drop, and a piece will chip off. Pick up this piece, which you’ll use as flint for your fire.

The other thing that happens when you roll the boulder is that you’ve created a spot on the ground that is shielded from the wind. According to the survival guide, you need this to properly build a fire. Now you just have one problem: the only kindling you have is wet. That won’t do! We need to find some wood that is dry. Hey, how about looking inside the cave just to the right?

Once you get inside the cave, you’ll discover there’s a hibernating bear inside. If you wake him, he’ll chase you out. The trick is to pay attention to the bat who enters the cave with you. When he flies up, there’s a ledge there (you won’t be able to see it — just jump!) and you can use that to cross over the sleeping bear. Drop down on the other side and you’ll find some dry kindling. Go back over the bear and leave the cave.

Now you have everything you need to build a fire. Go to the sheltered spot to the left of the boulder and then click on the fire icon in the lower-left part of your screen. Follow the fire building steps that are outlined in your survival handbook.

  1. First, use the mittens to completely clear a patch of ground beneath the snow.
  2. Next, place the tinder (the squirrel’s nest) down.
  3. Then light the fire with the striker and tinder.
  4. Now “blow” on the fire with your mouse cursor (drag it up and down where it says to blow).
  5. Place the dry kindling on the fire.
  6. Finally, place the logs on the fire.

You’ve done it! You now have a warm fire in a sheltered spot and you’ve completed Episode 1 of Survival Island. Congratulations!
